Cycle from Prague to Budapest

Cross 4 different countries and 4 capital cities by bicycle in less than two weeks. Once united in the Great Habsburg Empire, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary will sure surprise you with their amazing natural and cultural diversity.

Following the popular Greenway trail in the Czech Republic, the Eurovelo 6 tracks and the Danube Cycle Path, this is an ideal cycling route. The 12 days self-guided trip is easily doable for everyone, without any mayor physical or technical challenges. With daily stages of 45 to 77km, all you have to do is ride & enjoy!

Arrival to Prague is at your own leisure. Discover the city on foot or by bicycle: we recommend you to take a guided city bike tour so you won’t miss any of the highlights or hidden corners.Visit the famous Town Square with the Astronomical Clock and the Charles Bridge over the Vltava River.

Hop on your bike, follow the Vltava river and cross the gentle hills before you get to the famous Konopiste Castle. This was the former summer palace of Archduke Franz Ferdinand (the assassination of this would-be king caused the start of World War I). From here you’ll make your way to Tabor by train.

On two wheels you will enter the South Bohemian region with its lush green landscapes. Don’t miss the city of Telc with its beautiful main square, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO.

One of the highlights of the trip is the city of Mikulov. Visit the majestic castle whose origins date back as far as the Middle Ages, when the caravans traveling on the Amber Road were seeking the protection of its walls.

Following what once was the ‘Iron Curtain' you will cross the border and arrive to Mistelbach in Austria, from where you will be taken to Vienna. You can choose to add some nights here, to explore its great cultural offer before you get back on the bike again.

Have you ever cycled from one capital city to another, in just one day? This is your chance! From Vienna and along the Danube river banks, you will arrive to Bratislava. The final stretch shows some really impressive landscapes. Let us know if you would like to be challenged, we can offer some great alternative tracks for those who like to sweat!

The final destination of this trip is Budapest, an imperial city of great beauty. It was created in the 18th century by uniting the cities of Buda and Pest. Discover the flat side of Pest, on the eastern bank of the Danube, and breath its 19th century atmosphere. Or cross the river and stroll through the hilly Buda side, climbing up the Gellert Hill for some spectacular views.

Budapest was declared ‘City of Spas’. Do not go home without having enjoyed a relaxing and well-deserved bath in one of its thermal baths!
