ITINERARY
Arrival in Rennes, at the traveler's expense. The Breton capital offers us several surprises that will soon conquer you. The city perfectly combines historic and modern architecture, its passion for gastronomy and pride in its history.
The journey begins by going down the first lock of the Ille-et-Rance canal and the journey along the towpath begins. Under the trees and along a pleasantly paved road, enjoy a flat route in the middle of a mountainous landscape.
From the top of the village of Hédé, you will descend through the 11 locks and continue your journey along the towpath. In Tinténiac, in an old lock, a museum will tell you the history of traditional crafts. In Pleugueneuc you reach the Bourbansais castle. Before the last effort to reach Dinan, situated on an imposing rock outcrop, you will cross Léhon, one of the most beautiful small towns in Brittany. You enter Dinan through the port.
A few kilometers from Dinan, you leave the canal to join a beautiful path built on an old railway line. This path along the Breton countryside will take you to Dinard. You will arrive in Saint-Malo by boat as did Surcouf and Cartier, sailors and famous privateers of the city.
You will leave the corsair city in the morning to reach the port of Cancale, enjoying the bike between the countryside and the sea. Along the way, beautiful shipowners' houses from the 17th and 18th centuries enrich the path.
And finally, on the way to an architectural wonder of the world! Between the large beaches and the salty meadows, the Tour de Manche route allows you to enjoy a gradual approach to Mont Saint-Michel. You finish your trip on foot to reach the famous abbey. An essential visit!
For your last day you have an optional last morning circuit. Get up high to appreciate the grandeur of the Mont Saint-Michel bay. Along small Norman roads, the path will take you to Roche Torin. A peculiar atmosphere emerges from this sometimes mystical place, with a privileged view of Mont Saint-Michel.
