Description
A path only for the brave
It is very likely that you have never heard the name of Don Diego de Torres Villarroel. But that's because it's not English or American. If it were, we would surely have seen several movies about his life.
Torres was a writer, doctor, priest and professor of Mathematics in Salamanca, the city where he was born, in 1694. In 1737 he made a pilgrimage from Salamanca to Santiago de Compostela. Although you might not imagine him to be a normal pilgrim, Torres Villarroel was a special traveler. He traveled to Santiago to fulfill a promise, but his rebellious, jocular, mocking and shameless style was far removed from religiosity. He offers us a curious look at this Camino that runs through Spain and Portugal and what they were like in the XNUMXth century.
Torres Road
That is the Camino de Torres, 580 kilometers that you have to pedal, sometimes squeezing your legs, forget about the flat areas of the Camino Francés, this is something else.
Ancestral paths such as the Cañada Real de Extremadura, the Via Romana XIX of the Antonino Itinerary, or the Portuguese Way to Santiago de Compostela.
