Juan Pablo II Park Madrid (19)In Hortaleza, on Avenida de Machupichu we find the John Paul II Park. It is located between the Pinar de Barajas, Avenida del Papa Negro, Avenida de las Piceas, Avenida de los Andes and the M-40. It was inaugurated on May 4, 2007, with an area of 10,41 hectares. Corresponding to the first two phases, which are the residential and thematic areas.
The residential area includes the Garden of Sun and Water. It is articulated from the sundial square, which becomes the center and focus of canals, plantations and paths. It houses plantations of traditionally Mediterranean species (such as the Mediterranean trilogy: olive, vine and fruit trees) and others more common in modern gardens.

On the other hand, the thematic area provides a historical review of Mediterranean gardening. We can see the Middle Eastern Garden, the Medieval Garden, the Arab Garden, the Palm Grove or the Paradise, with many interpretive signs and water, as a connecting element, with games, estuary, gutters and pools.

There is also a commemorative monolith with a phrase from John Paul II: "With my open arms I carry you all in my heart", dedicated to the people of Madrid on the occasion of their visit to the city in 2003.

An ideal park for cycling, with good connections to the Cycling Green Ring and the Parque Juan Carlos I.

A good site srl

A abrazo.
