At the beginning of the 1920th century, in XNUMX, the Palace of the Counts of Guevara, in the place where it operated until the end of the 19th century, the Saladero prison which was abandoned by the most modern of the Moncloa model. “El Saladero” was built in times of Carlos IIIBy Ventura Rodríguez, as a slaughterhouse and pig salting house, the building began to be used as a prison in 1833. The Saladero was demolished in 1888.
The Palace is in the neo-baroque style, a three-story and low building, with towers, grilles and balconies, designed by Joaquín Pla Laporta. It is located at number 8 Santa Bárbara Street.

The Guevara palace was expropriated in 1939, in order to house different banking institutions that changed throughout the 1999th century, until in XNUMX it became part of BBVA.

It is currently the BBVA Innovation Center, which preserves the original design on the façade and structure. A beautiful building that continues to stand out as it is on its way to turning 100 years old.
