Greenways of Northern Portugal

Portugal, our neighbouring country, has many things that we love. That's why we come back year after year. This time we're going to the north of Portugal to travel along several Greenways. A small difference, on the other side of the border the Greenways are called Ecopistas, but the idea is the same: to recover disused railway lines to turn them into routes to enjoy doing sports in nature.

We will cover three eco-trails: Corgo, Tamega and Tua. We will take Vila Real as our base.

We will travel through that region that Julio Llamazares described so beautifully in his book Trás-os-Montes. A Portuguese journeyWhat I don't know if you know is that Llamazares decided to make this trip when Miguel Torga died (pseudonym under which we find Adolfo Correia da Rocha, Portuguese doctor, writer and poet from Trasmontano, from Santo Martinho de Anta, in Vila Real). Torga It is the wildest and most untamed part of Trasomontes, the one where the heather splashes its slopes with colour.
