The longest greenway in Andalusia

Until 1985, a train known as the Oil Train linked the towns of Jaén and Puentegenil, crossing one of the largest expanses of olive groves on the Iberian Peninsula.

A few years after the railway service was abandoned, the Vía Verde del Aceite was launched, one of the longest Green Routes in Spain and the longest in Andalusia.

A delightful journey that, in addition to the green gold of its famous olive oils, offers us many attractions: beautiful and enormous metal viaducts, castles and watchtowers, old railway stations recovered for new uses, beautiful towns such as Zuheros de la Sierra and postcard landscapes that give a special flavour to its cheeses and wines included in the DO Montilla-Moriles.

We will cycle through the lands of Jaén and Córdoba, at a leisurely pace, enjoying its attractions and meeting its people, soaking up the local culture, its history and traditions, enjoying an authentic bicycle holiday.

For accommodation we suggest the three star hotel Doña Mencia in the village of the same name. In the same village we can visit both an oil mill and a winery.
