Description and itinerary
V9-day self-drive trip by bicycle in the footsteps of the Romans and transhumance.
The Vía de la Plata is one of the great cycling routes of the Iberian Peninsula, following in the footsteps of the Romans and transhumance, starting in Seville and ending in Gijón, on the Cantabrian Sea.
We have prepared this itinerant trip through one of the most beautiful sections of the route, starting in the Roman city of Mérida, passing through Cáceres, one of the most beautiful historical centres in Spain, crossing the central system to reach Salamanca and Zamora, two unmissable cities in our geography, to end in Astorga, capital of the Maragatería.
But it's not all about cities. We also have the fantastic pastures of Cáceres, the Jerte River, the Ambroz Valley with the Roman city of Cáparra and Hervás, which is well worth a visit, just a stone's throw from our route. Not to mention the Puerto de Béjar, the fantastic views of the Sierra de Gredos, the pastures of Campo Charro.
Enjoy the freedom of this itinerant route, advancing little by little to your final destination.
A real cycling holiday to enjoy one of the most beautiful corners of the peninsula.
