Hiking through Extremadura

We propose you a hiking trip to immerse ourselves in one of the least known and most spectacular corners of Extremadura. The International Tajo and the Alcántara Lands.

The name Alcántara comes from Arabic and means “the bridge”. When the Arabs came here, they found this wonderful bridge and could not give it another name. It wasn't just another bridge, it was the BRIDGE. Its builder was clear about this almost two millennia ago, "will last as long as the world lasts"… These lands on the banks of the great Tagus River have been inhabited for millennia. Obvious signs are the Cabezo menhir, the Alcántara Bronze or the megalithic complexes that we can find. Dolmens and menhirs will be part of our route, silent witnesses of our past that, however, have many things to tell.

The terrain that we are going to cover, through these ancient mountains, of a very special geology, is broken, varied, with areas ranging from wastelands to cliffs, with the Tagus River very present. Also local producers and a lot of culture and history to discover corners that are close to us, waiting for us.
