Salento is the southeasternmost region of Italy, at the “heel of the boot”. Located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea, this region is full of memories of the different civilizations that inhabited it, from the Messapii to the Greeks, followed by the Romans and then the Normans. Crossing Salento by bicycle is like pedaling through an open-air museum: prehistoric dolmens, Byzantine sanctuaries hidden in caves, baroque cathedrals, secluded corners of the coast... are just some of the wonders you can see when visiting this area. The Salento region is famous throughout the world for its traditional cuisine, which combines marine and terrestrial flavors, and for its wine production, particularly Primitivo and Negramaro strains. Its unique combinations will delight all food and wine lovers.
We are in an almost completely flat region, which makes pedaling enjoyable for any level of cyclist. The routes are between 30 and 60 km, and run mainly along secondary roads, with trips to the sea and guided tours, sometimes walking, to different places of interest. We follow the philosophy of Slow travel to fully enjoy the landscape and culture of the surroundings, in all its different aspects.
