For centuries, this was the battlefield of French, Norman and English armies. William the Conqueror, Richard the Lionheart and Joan of Arc passed through here, characters who left deep marks. There are two historical, decisive moments that, although they happened here, have marked the history of Europe. Two battles, the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and the landing of the Allies on June 6, 1944, are undoubtedly events that have conditioned what happened next.
