This route of 8 days he offers you a magnificent holiday on two wheels cycling the French Atlantic coast from La Rochelle to Bordeaux. With daily stages from 33 to 62 km, It is a light and pleasant ride, designed for the occasional cyclist.
ITINERARY
Leaving from the port of La Rochelle, along the bike path next to the ocean you will reach the city of Rochefort. From there the cycle path crosses the salt flat of Marennes, an area known for its oyster production in freshwater and saltwater marine parks. Take the opportunity to try their high quality oysters.
The route continues towards Tremblade. Where you can take a moment to visit its lighthouse located at the northern end of the Gironde Estuary. Climb its 300 steps to have a spectacular view on the Wild side (Wild Coast) and its beautiful beaches.
En Royan Park your bike for a moment to visit the market, chosen as the 2nd most beautiful market in the country, and let all your senses enjoy.
Continue pedaling along the banks of the Gironde River and stop at one of its many marinas for a picnic. By the way, did you know that The picnic is a custom of French origin? After the French Revolution, common people gathered in royal parks and gardens to eat and drink together. Sometimes the preparation of these elegant meals in the open air took even several days.
