#SIMOONTANEA IN MADRID
Last Thursday, August 31, a few people got together to pedal in the moonlight. The call came from our dearest Ernesto Pastor, creator of Empty Mountains, probably the most successful proposal of cycle route launched specifically in our country.
We joined their call that brought together about 50 gatherings in at least 6 different countries, that's calling power!!
In Madrid alone we had at least 4 calls and they were spread everywhere. A sample of the good moment that the Cycling Community is experiencing.
Ours started from the Madrid Río, under the Toledo Bridge. An easy walk to the Casa de Campo, find a slightly darker place to enjoy the moonlight and little else.
We had agreed to meet at 22 p.m., we waited about 10 minutes and set off. About 50 people, you never know in these calls how many people will come, it is always an unknown. Many friends of Madrid Cyclist, the outing coincided with his traditional bike ride through Madrid on Thursdays and several people joined him after his route, also some friends from the community I am a Cicloviajera They joined the march and, without a doubt the best thing for us in these cases, were people we didn't know at all, who simply saw the call on networks and approached.
We arrived at the Casa de Campo and stopped at the Puente de la Culebra, Sabatini's beautiful bridge, but the moon was still low and the trees prevented a good view. We decided to go up a little and in a clearing in the middle of the pine forest we parked the bikes and set up the telescope. It was a pleasure to see the huge moon and share a chat with acquaintances and strangers united by two wheels.
Many comments about the sensations of pedaling at night, it is curious that comments that we have heard many other times are repeated: “I loved pedaling at night”, “we want more at night”, “it's cool to pedal at night”…
Without a doubt the sensations are magical. There was a moment that I personally loved, going down towards the zoo and from the other bridge of the Meaques stream seeing the line of moving lights of the cycling caravan as it descended the track between the pines. We were next to the city but the sensations seemed to be able to transport you much further.
You can enjoy some photos of Cristina, from our bike trip. Thanks Cris for the photos.
