We return with new routes in Bertiz, this very special border area within the Pyrenees. And as in recent years, we have chosen the transversal theme of smuggling, as it has long been one of the fundamental occupations for many of the inhabitants of these mountains bordering France. The black market and its mischief determined what was produced, how it was traded and ultimately how the people lived in this region.

The delicious forests of the western Pyrenees through tracks and trails that we always dream of in the photos of specialized magazines, while we learn about the adventures of the smugglers and like them, we will also reach the beach, the dream destination, in the proximity of Hendaye and Hondarribia.

It is a bike travel through several locations in Baztán that will help us enjoy the western area of ​​the Pyrenees, the most forested without a doubt.

During our program the “base camp” will be Beintza-Labaien, a town of 270 inhabitants in the Bidasoa valley, located at 450 meters above sea level. The town has a grocery store, a doctor's office, a bar - inn and a fronton, for many its main attraction, to finish crushing ourselves after the bicycle route, yes, with a beer in hand.

Beintza-Labaien is located 12 km from Doneztebe-Santesteban, the capital of the region next to the N-121 A highway that has a Health Center, pharmacies, bank offices, bus transportation to Donostia and Pamplona-Iruña, taxi service and various accommodations and restaurants.
