Under the name of Ciclamadrid we find an ambitious initiative by the General Directorate of Tourism of the Community of Madrid to promote bicycle tourism in the Community of Madrid.
We propose a different and fun way to get to know Madrid: by bicycle. From the Manzanares River passing through the oldest bridges in Madrid, the Toledo and Segovia, the Madrid de los Austrias, the Royal Palace, the Plaza Mayor y Sol, Cibeles and the Retiro, a journey through history that mixes the past and the present, legends and gossip, a city that renames everything it sees and welcomes everyone who arrives.
It has been a stimulating experience that has allowed us to review many things we knew about Madrid and discover new ones, get to know corners of the city and revisit many interesting places. Thank you very much for being on the other side of the screen, for your recommendations, for your comments and suggestions, or simply for reading us.
On December 31, San Silvestre is celebrated and in Madrid just hearing that name makes us think about running. Yes, since 1964 Madrid has hosted the largest athletics event in the country: the San Silvestre Vallecana.
Tonight it has become traditional to go to Sol to celebrate the "preuvas", saying goodbye to the year a day early; but it is recommended not to eat grapes or, in any case, only raisins. The real grapes are left for tomorrow, they are the lucky grapes for the new year.
The permanence in our city of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection, which was probably the most important private collection in the world, caused Madrid to climb many positions in the evaluation of many cultural tourists.
We are facing one of the most significant works of Miguel Fisac on the banks of the Manzanares River, where we must mention the great work of the engineer Eduardo Torroja, we are talking about the Center for Hydrographic Studies.
We preserve in Madrid some elements of the work of those magnificent Mudejar builders who worked in the city and throughout the territory after the arrival of the Christians at the end of the 11th century. In the Community of Madrid, the examples of Camarma de Esteruelas, Valdilecha or Talamanca del Jarama. In the city of Madrid the following are well known: the tower of the church of San Nicolás, the tower of the church of San Pedro and a civil building the Torre and the Casa de los Lujanes and our protagonist today, Santa María la Antigua, built in the 13th century
In short, the Casa de Campo, next to the city, is a leisure space in capital letters, a luxury that is close, accessible and for everyone, those of us who live here and those who visit us. One of our favorite places to do bike routes through Madrid.
A good part of these meals and dinners end with sweets, and we could not forget that in Madrid there are leading establishments when it comes to preparing these delicacies. We already talked here about another institution, La Mallorquina, today's protagonists have parallel stories and with many common points: the Riojano confectionery and Casa Mira, the sweetest Madrid.
