THE FORESTS OF SAJAMBRE AND VALDEÓN

12, 13 and 14 October

On the Bridge of October we propose one hiking route through the Valdeón and Sajambre Valley.

On July 22, 1918, King Alfonso XIII sanctioned the Law by which the Covadonga Mountain National Park was declared the first national park in Spain. Those were the origins of the conservation of this incredible natural space. In the Western Picos de Europa, the valleys of Sajambre and Valdeón, preserve extensive deciduous forests, between the Pandetrave and Panderrueda Passes. One of the paradises that we have left on the Peninsula, given that apart from the powerful autumn color, it offers us an unparalleled sample of the limestone cliffs of this massif. Our hotel is located in Posada de Valdeon, a central place where the waters of the Cares River flow, and the place from where we will draw up the itineraries. Here we can also enjoy its famous cheese.
