Teide behind the clouds

Teide

Even with the image of Teide (peeking fleetingly through the clouds from the Mirador de la Cruz del Carmen) in my memory, I propose to tell you about our visit to San Cristobal de La Laguna in Tenerife.

We have participated in a workshop on active tourism which encompassed more themes such as cultural and health tourism. They have been fantastic days that reaffirm our idea of where the changes in the promotion of tourism in our country have to go.

El I Active Tourism Workshop “La Laguna in 4 seasons” It has had a quite original format that enhances contact between operators and local companies. The proposal seeks alternatives to commercialization, so necessary and complex. One of its objectives is the creation of new tourism products so necessary to change the perception of tourism about the destination. An element that we forget so many times and that, we already know, is so important. Not in vain, marketing starts with product design.

La Laguna is home to some surprising attractions, such as its fantastic historic center, a World Heritage Site. A city designed by string and using maritime navigation instruments, a city conceived to suit man, where a more humanistic conception became a city that would later be repeated on the other side of the Atlantic in different cities founded by the Spanish.

But there is much more, nature enters the city with incredible vegetation where some dragon trees stand out (Dracaena draco) magnificent. Very close to the city Anaga Rural Park with its laurel forest, uHidalgo Pointa botanical jewel memory of another era and where we find most of the wild dragon trees on the island of Tenerife.

We also liked the north coast, so different from the images of crowded beaches and beach hotels.

From our point of view, the environment offers very favorable conditions for active tourism: bicycle tourism, MTB routes, hiking, sea kayaking, surfing, diving and also for nature observation tourism: birds, cetaceans, or that exclusive vegetation that we referred to before. A good destination for the ecotourism. More than enough arguments to start thinking about taking a trip.

Furthermore, we have met a good group of professionals with passion for their work and who are the basis for developing new tourism products that allow us to generate a new image of a tourist destination, thinking about specific customer profiles and aimed at the new market niches that are emerging. They are consolidating. Professionals who have shown us La Laguna and its possibilities, in some cases with a good dose of heritage interpretation and in all casesLaLaguna (13) showing deep respect and interest in local products, gastronomy (how delicious we ate) and wines that have surprised us and with which we are already generating local products. wine tourism.

Thank you very much for the invitation, we hope to return very soon and congratulations on the proposal.

Do you fancy a trip to La Laguna?

A greeting.
