Roving mountain bike trip

The Winter Road is a pilgrimage route to Santiago that many pilgrims chose when entering Galicia, especially in the winter season, to avoid encountering the difficult passage of the snow-capped peaks of O Cebreiro. This variant leaves from Ponferrada, where it separates from the Camino Francés, and reaches A Laxe (Lalín), where it joins the Camino Sanabrés. Its approximate length is 270 km and it has the peculiarity of passing through the four Galician provinces. It enters Galicia through the Valdeorras region, following the natural course of the Sil River. This way of entering Galicia was chosen by different peoples throughout history, from the Romans to the French Napoleonic troops, to make their incursions into Galician lands. In addition, it crosses a large part of the Ribeira Sacra, in the south of Lugo, dotted with the largest number of Galician Romanesque churches, located, for the most part, in the impressive canyons of the Sil River and slopes of the Miño River.
