Today we are going to the San Jerónimo race, to number 15 to see the Palace of the Marquis of Miraflores. Surely just by looking at the cover you can imagine who the architect was, yes, it was indeed Pedro de Ribera.
The works on this palace were rapid, it was built between 1731 and 1732 and was the personal residence for Antonio Pando Brigas Arnaiz y Peña, the count of Villapaterna. A few years later, in 1817, the III Count of Villaparerna was granted the title of Marquis of Miraflores, which gives its name to the palace.
As was normal at the time, the architect designed the building based on the plot, although it was rectangular and Ribera built a sober building with a granite plinth on the San Jerónimo façade and three floors. The palace has a central patio that provides natural light and ventilation to the rooms.
As in many other works by Ribera, the main door stands out especially, in baroque style, highly ornamented with a balcony at the top and crowning the whole, the shield of the marquis.
Until 1942 it continued to be the residence of the Marquises of Miraflores. Later the property passed to the Hispanic American Insurance Company, and in 1999, the Mutua Madrileña acquired the building. It was headquarters of Casa Asia Centre- in Madrid from 2007 until its transfer to the Cañete Palace.
A abrazo.
