THE DANUBE RIVER ROUTE BY BICYCLE 

Week 1. From July 21 to 28

Donaueschingen - Regensburg

"The Danube is the origin of a Europe, of the meeting along the river of great currents that can help us conceive an existence above national identities". The words of Skinny They praise this "river-road" link and border between so many peoples throughout history.

The route runs mostly near the Danube River and offers a flat route (except for one stage), and without any type of technical or physical difficulty. Much of the route runs along bike paths and some paths and small roads. From the source of the Danube River, when it is only a small source, to Regensburg, Regensburg, the Castra Regina of the Romans.  With its spectacular St. Peter's Cathedral and the first great stone bridge over the Danube River. A marvel of medieval engineering, at the time of its construction it was the only bridge over the Danube between Ulm and Vienna and is the oldest stone bridge in Germany. Legend has it that it could only be built with the help of the Devil who took a soul as a reward. On our trip we will know whose soul it was.

Our route is part of the euroveil 6, that we will pedal this summer also on the section that runs through the Castles of the Loire River in France.

Distance: 429 Km.
Cumulative Ascension: 1330 metres.
