Semoontanea#SIMOONTANEA

Those of you who follow us know that we are big fans of participating in events that add value, that promote interesting activities, that make the community grow. This has led us to get involved in initiatives such as 30 days by bike, the Bike Travel Weekend or Bike Your Park Day.

So, when we saw that Ernesto de Empty Mountains proposed the SIMONTANEA We were clear that we wanted to participate. Ernesto's message was simple: "A call to pedal under the last full moon of summer, in a meeting that will take place simultaneously in different parts of the country."

There are already a lot of proposals and we were clear that we wanted to make an accessible get-together, so that people who might feel a little respectful about embarking on a night out are encouraged and feel safe and comfortable in the get-together. So we have decided to organize this event in collaboration with CiclaMadrid.

Our proposal will take us to the farthest corner of the Casa de Campo in Madrid to enjoy the moon rising from the center of the city.

La Casa de Campo is the largest park in the city. Its more than 1500 hectares are a privilege for the city; cyclists of all kinds use its routes daily.

A route of about 25 kilometers with many options to shorten the exit so that whoever wants can adapt it to their time and strength possibilities.

So we are calling a meeting open to anyone who wants to join in, on Thursday, August 31, to enjoy the rise of the second full moon of the month of August. The intention is to reach a point along the route to share a picnic together. We will bring a portable ground-based telescope so that when the moon rises we can mount it on its tripod and enjoy an even more spectacular view of this wonder that illuminates our planet every 28 days.

Meeting time: 22:00 p.m. In it Madrid River under the Toledo Bridge.

The activity will end around 1:00 a.m. although it seems that the moment of maximum splendor of the moon will be at 3:35 a.m., a more convenient time for owls and those who do not work the next day.

Recommendations

  • No hell of any kind. The risk of fire is very high.
  • It is essential to have front and rear lights.
  • Pangea Routes always recommends the use of a helmet.
  • Some reflective clothing doesn't hurt.
  • It is a short route, but as on any bike route, it is advisable to have the bike ready and carry at least the basics to repair a puncture. The thistles also continue to do their thing at night.
  • Please think about the planet, if possible not carry any disposable materials and, of course, we want 0 waste.
