MOUNTAIN BIKE IN THE ARRIBES DEL DUERO FROM MAY 13 TO 15

On the Bridge of San Isidro we propose a bicycle trip through the Arribes del Duero.

In the west of our country, where the Duero serves as the border between Spain and Portugal, we find the Arribes de Duero Natural Park that extends through the provinces of Zamora and Salamanca. This protected space continues on the Portuguese shore where we find the Douro International Natural Park.

An extensive area with almost 100 kilometers of river canyons, a rugged granite landscape that is home to rich fauna and shocking landscapes, a delicious destination for MTB routes.

We will settle on the Zamorano side of the Arribes del Duero, a perfect place to begin our tours full of viewpoints of the canyons, slopes covered with thick Mediterranean forests and skies practically always crossed by the large birds of prey that nest in the canyon or the elusive black stork

The culture of the towns, the wines of the region and its rugged horizons, with capricious ravines, are the central elements of this mountain bike route. Miguel de Unamuno loved these landscapes and described the Arribes like this: Such a plateau cracks in deep tears, revealing its rocky innards, the stony foundations of the austere Castilian plain. The tenacious water, which carves the rocks drop by drop with centuries-old work, has been eating away at its berroque bed and seeking a way out between revolts and sprains. From a distance, no one can guess the deep gorge through which the Duero flows; The undulating Castilian plain seems to be gently lost, and without any solution of continuity, in the foothills of the Estrella mountain range that closes the horizon towards the Portuguese side.
