Pedal Spain Madrid Workshop ProgramOn March 12th we are organizing a workshop within the framework of the Pedal Spain project, funded by the Experiencias program of the State Secretariat for Tourism of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism of the Government of Spain.

A meeting for professionals and companies from all over the sector, in Madrid. Juan and Chus will be the hosts and we will organize it in a space that we really liked: The Travel Warehouse.

For us, cycle tourism is much more than a business. We believe that bicycle tourism can be a great tool for the socio-economic development of the territories where bicycle trips are made, a great alternative to other forms of tourism. More sustainable, more friendly to the destinations, the landscape and the locals.

The sector is going through a good period. Since COVID-19, activity has not stopped growing. The vast majority of companies we have spoken to at last year's fairs, and at this year's, tell us that they are having some of their best years.

It is time to think about the future, and for this reason we embarked on this great proposal that is Pedal Spain, and we must listen to other companies that have a lot to say. That is why these workshops are being organized; the first one was already held in Zaragoza, Aragón, and another in Doña Mecía, Córdoba, which brought together a large number of actors from Andalusia.

For this we have invited renowned professionals such as Simon Proffitt from IberoCycle, Eduard Kirchner Granell from CicloTurisme Tours, Susana Cubells from Zona Zero, María Knaapen from S-Cape and Pilar Puebla from Bikefriendly.

In addition, we will have the presidents of the Cycle Tourism Product Clubs of Asturias, Navarra and, of course, Madrid's CiclaMadrid.

We will also be joined by all the companies that are part of the Pedal Spain project.

A day to reflect on how to face the future of the sector, from the excellent current position that must serve to continue growing, professionalizing the activity of bicycle tourism and positioning our country as one of the best places in the world for cycle tourism.

For many years we have been advocating for the role played by specialised travel agencies, bicycle rental companies, luggage transport companies, accommodation companies, etc. in short, the entire private sector that makes cycle tourism create an economy. Little by little we have managed to get the administrations to listen to us, to make room for us in their conferences and seminars, to take into account our needs and opinions, and also our complaints, it must be said.

That is why these workshops aim to give a voice especially to those companies that provide life, activity and clients to cycle tourism routes. We have always said that a cycle tourism route without the support of the private sector offering services and creating tourist products is only an infrastructure, it is very important, of course, but it will never be enough to achieve the objectives for which it is created.
