THE DANUBE RIVER ROUTE BY BICYCLE 

Week 2. From July 27 to August 4

Regensburg - Vienna

"The Danube is the origin of a Europe, of the meeting along the river of great currents that can help us conceive an existence above national identities". The words of Skinny They praise this "river-road" link and border between so many peoples throughout history.

The route practically always runs along the Danube River and offers a flat route, without any type of technical or physical difficulty. There are some very long stages, but easy because of the route. It should be noted that the German railway company Bahn and its Austrian counterpart offer all the facilities in the world for boarding the bike, making it very easy to skip a stage or part of it to adapt the route to our interests and physical level.

Much of the route runs along bike paths, some paths and small roads. From Regensburg, Regensburg, the Castra Regina from the Romans we will reach Vienna, capital of Austria and imperial city that was the center of European culture during the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th..  In between and after crossing the famous Stone Bridge in Regensburg, you will come to the beautiful Passau, the city of three rivers, the Inn River that comes directly from the Alps and the Ilz, joining here the Danube that continues to rise. The border of Germany and Austria, the Schlögen viewpoint, Linz, Mauthausen (an optional visit and not recommended for all sensitivities), Melk and its incredible Abbey, the vineyards of the Wachau Valley, the wineries in Krems and the nearby towns, and the Klosterneuburg monastery. and we end in Vienna. We can only tell you one thing, if you have not come to Vienna before, reserve one day to visit the city, it is very worth it.

Our route is part of the euroveil 6, that we will pedal this summer also on the section that runs through the Castles of the Loire River in France.

Distance: 476 Km.
