From the source of the Elbe to Prague by Bicycle
Are you attracted an original and active holiday? Are you interested in discovering a country where one of the main rivers in Europe originates? Would you like to explore the Giant Mountains by bike? We have a route designed for you!
On two wheels and with the Elbe River as a guide, you will pass through historic cities, traditional villages, fortresses, spas and UNESCO monuments. Follow the current until you reach the city of Prague.
In a 8-day trip at your leisure cycling Through one of the greenest and most wooded areas in the Czech Republic, we offer you an excellent opportunity to disconnect and live an unforgettable experience. With daily stages of 35 to 63 kilometers with little gradient, the route is designed for regular cyclist.
ITINERARY
arrival at Prague It's on your own. We recommend adding an extra night in this beautiful city, at the beginning or end of the trip. There will be a transfer to the start of the route in Spindleruv Mlyn, located in the National Park, where you can enjoy panoramic views over the valley.
You will begin the trip by going up by cable car, followed by a gentle descent by bike along the ridge of the mountain to the village of Vrchlabí. From there you will continue the current of the river, which gains strength and size with each kilometer. Let yourself be surprised by the dam of Lesní Království, work that looks like it was built for a princess and dragon movie.
To reach Pardubice City you will continue for a soft and rural landscape and on easy paths. Take the time to visit the cities you find along the way and don't leave without having tried a pint of Pivo – the national drink par excellence 😉
Also highlights the oldest stable in Europe (its history takes us back more than 500 years), where the famous Kladruber breed, native to the Czech Republic, is raised under the patronage of UNESCO.
By pedaling you will reach Kutna Hora, a medieval city whose silver mines paid for part of Columbus's expedition to the New World.
Approaching Prague you can choose two options: on a track following the river, or on small secondary roads to Lysá nad Labem. If you don't feel like getting to the big city by bike, you can always stop there and get on the train that will leave you in the center of Prague.
Once back in Prague, the options are countless. Visit the City square with its astronomical clock or Charles Bridge on the Vltava River, among other things.
