From Elbe's springs to Prague by bike

Are you looking for an active and original way to spend the holidays? Would you like to discover the country where one of Europe’s main rivers is born? Do you feel like exploring the so-called Giant Mountains by bicycle? Then stop looking any further, we got the right holidays for you!

On two wheels and guided by the Elbe River, you will ride along historical sites, traditional villages, fortresses, Spa towns and UNESCO monuments. Follow the river stream all the way to the vibrant city of Prague.

This 8-day self-guided cycling trip through one of the greenest and forested areas of the Czech Republicis a perfect opportunity to disconnect from daily life and live an unforgettable experience. With daily stages of 35 to 63km and very gentle climbs, it’s a route designed for the regular cyclist.

ITINERARY
Arrival to Prague is at your own leisure. We highly recommend you to book some extra nights in this beautiful city, either at the beginning or the end of your trip. You’ll be transferred from Prague to the start of the route in Špindlerův Mlýn, a small town in the National Park. Enjoy the views over the valley!

The next day you’ll go uphill by the cablecart, followed by a two-kilometer-long descent over the mountain crests to the village of Vrchlabí. Keep following the tracks along the river, which gains intensity and gets bigger and bigger with every mile. An impressive sight along the way is the Lesní Království dam, a real work of artlooking like it comes straight from a movie of princesses and dragons.

Riding through the gentle and rural countryside, you will get to Pardubice. Take your time to visit the towns you pass by on the way and make sure you stop here and there to try a pint of pivo – the Czech national drink 😉

Another highlight on the route is the one of the oldest still operating stud farms in Europe (for more than 500 years!), home of the original Czech horse breed – Kladruber – protected by UNESCO.

Still in the saddle (of your bike) you will arrive to Kutná Hora, a city whose silver mines paid for Columbus' exploration to the New World.

Getting closer to Prague you can choose various options to get to Lysá nad Labem, a remarkable chateau and park. From here you can jump on the train that leaves you in the heart of town.

Once back in Prague the options are countless. Don’t forget to visit the famous Town Square with the Astronomical Clock and the Charles Bridge over the Vltava River.
