This magnificent building designed in 1901 by the architect Santiago Castellanos Urízar, was built from 1901 to 1903 as a palace-house for Don Federico Ortiz. Castellanos Urízar was at that time a veteran architect with many works in Madrid, such as the reform of the Vista Alegre Palace and several buildings for the Lamarca family.

The Casa-Palacio is located at number 93 Calle de Alcalá, it is a very elegant building by an architect who has sometimes been considered a precursor of modernism in Madrid. It is currently the headquarters of the Spanish University Foundation.

It must be remembered that it is located in the Salamanca neighborhood, which has fascinating architecture, made up of mansions and stately estates from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its French style is very characteristic, both in the square and wide layout of the streets and in the careful design of its buildings.
