The Liebana county borders
with provinces of Asturias, León and Palencia. It is formed by a deep
valley crossed by the Deba river and surrounded by high mountain ranges including
the Picos de Europa and Peña Sagra. The valley ends in the Angosto
de la Hermida an impressive limestone gorge. In Potes we will no seize to
wonder at sight of the magnificent peaks the local architecture of it’s
villages and the monasteries of Santo Toribio and Santa María de Lebeña.
Both
of these green ways are executed over mining railways that descended to the
coast. They followed the smooth sloping valleys of Leizarán, Larraun
and Bidasoa. Despite the heavy populated areas that they cross they still

MINING FIELD (HUELVA)
THE
RIO OJA GREEN WAY "The Wine growers Train"
December
6th. To 9th.
September
29 and 30
This popular train track
of the XIX Century begins on the banks of the Ebro and takes us to the sierra
of Ezcaray, passing the monumental sites of Santo Domingo de la Calzada, Casalarreina
or the church of Bañares on its way. An inexcusable objective of this
trip will be the observation of the recollection of the grapes and tasting
the wines. It could not be any other way on these dates.
This
route is centered around mining and ham (Jabugo denomination of origin) in
Andalusia In late autumn the green sierras and dehesas that extend between
the Aracena sierra and the Guadiana valley are an ideal place. The first rate
tourist resource of the archeology of the mines exemplified by the mining
Park is a continuous source of wonderment: the mineral colors of the river,
the open pits, the Victorian quarter ant the XIX century railways...
This
Nature Park protects a limestone mountain range whose principal characteristics
are it’s glacial landscape, The water caused erosion and the Karstic
processes that have shaped the bedrock. The wide spectrum of forest ecosystems
together with its authenticity and tranquility make this area one of the most
beautiful spots in the north of the peninsula.
